Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti told Friday European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell that talks on a legally binding agreement must not be delayed while current issues are discussed.

Kurti wrote on his Twitter account that he met with Borrell ahead of the Paris Peace Forum “to discuss the Brussels Proposal supported by France, Germany and US, on the normalization of relations with Serbia.”

Kurti also met Friday in Paris with EU Special Representative for the Western Balkans Miroslav Lajcak.

The Kosovo Government said the main topics discussed were the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, the implementation of the decision on the license plates and the latest events in Kosovo.

Prime Minister Kurti emphasized the elements of the framework agreement for the full normalization of relations with Serbia, “with mutual recognition at the center,” said a Kosovo Government press release, adding that Kurti said the Franco-German proposal, supported by the US and the EU, and presented by envoys Jens Plotner and Emmanuel Bonne, serves as a good basis for further discussion.

Commenting on the recent developments in north Kosovo, Kurti reiterated that the Kosovo Government “has shown determination for the rule of law and commitment to maintaining peace and security in the country,” said the press release.
