Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said Thursday that he has not yet seen the indictment issued by Kosovo’s Special Prosecution for the attack in Banjska, but reiterated that former Serb List deputy leader Milan Radoicic must be handed over to Kosovo authorities.
Radio Kim quoted him as saying that the indictment could have been issued much earlier, but “better late than never.”
Kurti said Kosovo insists on Radoicic being handed over because the crime was committed in Banjska, which is in Kosovo.
Kosovo’s Special Prosecution on Wednesday filed an indictment charging 45 people, including Milan Radoicic, over the attack on Kosovo police in September last year in Banjska, Kosovo.
Milan Radoicic, a former politician and businessman from northern Kosovo, who is believed to be in Serbia, took responsibility for the attack.
Pristina’s daily Koha, which reviewed the indictment, said that the group began organizing in October 2021 at a meeting attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and that Serbia offered the group leader, Milan Radoicic, the military infrastructure needed to train the group.
The Kosovo Special Prosecutor’s indictment does not directly implicate the Serbian state in organizing the Banjska attack, reported Koha, adding that the document that it obtained says that the group’s aim was to secede northern Kosovo and annex it to Serbia.
