Kurti rejects draft CSM statute presented in Brussels

“I fundamentally disagree with the draft. It represents the desire for a Republika Srpska in Kosovo,” he said in a Twitter post.

The post included a copy of his proposal for the statute of the CSM which, according to him, must be in line with the Kosovo Constitution.

Kurti proposed that the CSM should enable that Kosovo Serb community to protect their rights through a self-management framework. “It will engender a non-territorial project in which all Kosovo Serbs are fully represented,” the proposal says and adds that it will provide a direct channel of communication with the government and offer the possibility of funding by the government. “It will fully recognize the constitutional characteristics of the Republic of Kosovo,” it said.

“This project should embody the shared determination of Kosovo and Serbia to stay genuine and committed to ensuring that their kin non-majority communities live up to the same standards of human rights protection common among democratic and cohesive societies that leave no one behind,” Kurti’s proposal said.
