Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that before holding new elections in the north of Kosovo, those responsible for the violence in the recent protests "should be returned to Serbia" or arrested in Kosovo. Pročitaj više
„Before the extraordinary elections, we must have the rule of law in the country. Violent extremists must be held accountable before the law and then there will be conditions and a fair campaign for democratic elections,“ Kurti told NBC News, as reported by Pristina media.
Kurti announced that next week he will discuss the issue with the US envoy Gabriel Escobar and the EU special envoy Miroslav Lajcak.
„Next week, Lajcak and Escobar will come to Kosovo and we will discuss the details. I believe in early elections, but first, we need the rule of law and a fair campaign before the elections,“ Kurti said.
He rejected Belgrade’s accusations of police violence against protest participants in the north of Kosovo.
„There is no evidence that the Kosovo police are responsible for the violence. The Kosovo police are the most professional in the Balkans, they were trained by the USA, Great Britain and the EU. On the other hand, we have bandits who are there to destabilize Kosovo,“ Kurti said.
