Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said on Monday that his cabinet continued its fight against organized crime and corruption in 2022.

He wrote in a Facebook post that the police conducted 854 operations against organized crime and smuggling, arresting 3202 people including 301 public officials.

“We closed 16 illegal roads in the north. We destroyed 69 criminal groups,” he said and added that more than 1.8 tons of narcotics were seized, 5 drug laboratories were destroyed along with 3 crypto currency production facilities in the north of Kosovo.

“Over 14 million Euro have been frozen under suspicion of abuse and money laundering and over 300 thousand liters of fuel that were not compliant with illegal acts were seized,” he wrote.

Kurti added that 4 police stations were built in the north and that the optical network in that area was expanded.

“We created the Border Rapid Intervention Unit, within the framework of the Kosovo Police, which is engaged in combating smuggling, human trafficking and other abuses along the border line,” Kurti said.
