European Union envoy Miroslav Lajcak said on Monday that he discussed the situation in the Western Balkans with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

A Twitter post said that they met on the margins of the 24th Symi Syposium in the Greek resort of Lagonisi.

“Albin Kurti and I discussed the current situation in the region and the Dialogue on normalization. We focused in particular on the next steps needed in order to make progress in the Dialogue,” Lajcak wrote in the post.

Kurti said in separate Twitter post that they discussed the next steps in talks with Serbia. "I reiterated that our government stands ready for principled and constructive dialogue. Citizens must be the end-beneficiaries of a legally binding agreement, centered on mutual recognition," he wrote.

The Symi Symposium is an annual gathering of global thinkers following the tradition of Ancient Greek philosophers hosted by former Prime Minister George Papandreou.
