European Union Special Representative Miroslav Lajcak said that some progress was achieved in bringing closer the stands of the chief negotiators from Belgrade and Pristina.

Lajcak discussed ways to resolve problems following the Kosovo central bank decision to make the Euro the only legal currency, effectively banning the use of the Serbian Dinar which was used to pay salaries and pensions to a large number of Kosovo Serbs. The Kosovo authorities also seized at least two shipments of Dinar cash being sent to northern Kosovo.

“Hosted another discussion with the two Chief negotiators on a temporary solution for the people affected by the CBK decision. We managed to bridge some gaps between the proposals of the two Parties,” Lajcak wrote in an X post.

He said that he plans to continue the discussions soon based on the EU’s ideas for a compromise.
