European Union envoy Miroslav Lajcak met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Belgrade on Tuesday but made no statement were made to the media after the meeting.

Vucic said in an Instagram post that he met with Lajcak but did not elaborate on what they discussed.

Lajcak came to the Serbian capital days after a visit to Pristina where he met with the Kosovo government’s chief negotiator Besnik Bislimi. “I visited Kosovo in preparation of the next meeting of Chief Negotiators in Brussels. With First Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi, I discussed the recent development over summer, the agenda of the next Chief negotiators’ meeting and approaches how to tackle some of the current issues, as well as the next steps towards implementing the Agreement on the Path to Normalisation,” the EU Special Representative wrote in a Facebook post.

He added that the preparations for the next meeting of the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue included this week’s visit to Serbia.

Lajcak’s visit comes more than 10 days after the Kosovo Police took control of the offices of Serbian institutions in the northern majority-Serb municipalities, leaving hundreds of people jobless and with access to their offices.

The chief negotiators from Belgrade Petar Petkovic and Pristina Besnik Bislimi most recently met early in June. EU officials had separate meetings with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo Prime Minister Petar Petkovic on June 26.
