Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told his annual news conference that Serbia is being pressured by the West to impose sanctions on Moscow.

“The US and the European Union are twisting Serbia's arm, demanding it betray Moscow by joining the anti-Russian sanctions crusade in exchange for EU membership,” Lavrov said.

He added that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic won’t divert the country from its EU accession path. “In response they say we are waiting for you here but first you have to recognize the independence of Kosovo. They are encouraging Serbia to commit an act of self-humiliation and join the sanctions against Russia.
They want them to betray their ally,” he said.

According to Lavrov, the outgoing Biden administration, is using the new sanctions against Russia's energy sector, to pull a dirty trick on both Serbia and the incoming Trump administration.
