Lawyer Bozo Prelevic criticized Serbia’s top civilian security agency for a recruitment video which he feels “breeds paranoia” in the public.

The video which ends with the slogan Everything Changes, The Service Remains was released to invite applications for the Academy for National Security which is run by the Security Information Agency (BIA) successor to the Serbian state security service. The video says that 30 students are being accepted and could have a place in the agency after they complete 4 years of studies, ending with pictures of Serbian and Yugoslav coats of arms from medieval to modern times and the slogan Everything Changes, The Service Remains.

According to former judge and Internal Affairs co-Minister Prelevic, the slogan should never have been used. “It breeds the paranoia that everything changes but the service remains. The public believes that the service replaces political parties and instead of discouraging that idea you are planting that seed of suspicion,” he said.

Conspiracy theories are wide-spread among the public in the countries of the former Yugoslavia.
