Lawyers protest in central Belgrade

The protest was staged near the headquarters of the Serbian Bar Association.

Lawer Ceda Kokanovic told the Beta news agency that the draft law will prevent private individuals from exercising their rights when the state wrongs them by preventing access to courts. He said the lawyers don’t trust the Bar Association management and want a working group formed to draft the law. He said that the Bar Association management and Justice Minister met earlier on Monday to deal with the huge dissatisfaction among lawyers and said that the public debate won’t end before lawyers and the ministry reach a compromise.
