At a session of the Assembly of the Bar Association of Serbia, lawyers decided to suspend their work for seven days.

The decision was unanimous.

Lawyer Vladimir Beljanski, President of the Bar Association of Vojvodina, stated that the legal profession holds a unified stance on this matter.

When asked if there will be new proposals in seven days, Beljanski explained that a new proposal requires a new assembly session. "An assembly session can be convened and proposed by any bar association or 20 percent of the delegates from this Assembly. Whether this will happen depends on what unfolds in Serbia over the next seven days, and we will act accordingly," he added.

Following the session, a student from Nis named Dimitrije addressed the gathering, quoting Radomir Lukic, a renowned law professor:

"Remember now and for the rest of your lives that the state is a monopoly of force and rules through fear using the military, police, prosecution, and often the courts. Our duty, as legal professionals, is to defend the people from oppressive authority, because all authority is inherently corrupt and wrongful."
