Local community assembly stages protest in Belgrade suburb

The protest was held at the intersection of the Vojislava Ilica and Ustanicka streets, both major traffic arteries between the outlying neighborhood and the center of Belgrade.

A member of the Konjarnika local community assembly said that the plan is to block the intersection to midnight, making noise all the time. Making noise with whistles, chants, singing has been part of the tradition of anti-government protests in Serbia since the mid-1990s.

Traffic police secured the area around the intersection.
