Mihailo Kolovic, an activist with the Kraljevo-based Local Front association, was detained Tuesday in Belgrade at the apartment he shares with his girlfriend.

Six plainclothes individuals, who identified themselves as police, took him into custody without providing any explanation or reason for his arrest, said Local Front.

“We literally don’t know what happened or why he was detained. He had been in frequent contact with the protest organizers, but when these people arrived at the door, they didn’t introduce themselves right away, they just said they were from the police. His girlfriend opened the door, they first spoke with her, and then saw him in the apartment and shouted, ‘Come on Mihailo, why are you sitting there, come with us!’ They didn’t give either of them any explanation. They only mentioned that it had something to do with a case in Novi Sad,” Predrag Vostinic from Local Front, who was in contact with Mihailo’s girlfriend, told Nova.rs.

Kolovic was instructed to take his phone and personal belongings.

“However, she watched as they took him down the stairs and said they took everything from him,” said Vostinic.
