French President Emmanuel Macron said Wednesday after a “long talk” with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic that he has confirmed France’s participation in Expo 2027 in Belgrade.

Macron added that they discussed bilateral cooperation, European integration, Serbia-Kosovo relations, and the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Just had a long talk with the president of Serbia. I once again emphasized how much importance France attaches to Serbia’s democratic and European future,” Macron wrote in both Serbian and French on his X account, following his meeting with Vucic in Paris on Wednesday.

He said he expressed confidence in Serbia’s ability to find the path of dialogue again, and “hope that the future government will decisively continue with expected reforms and strengthen the very good economic results.” Macron noted that he highlighted France’s commitment to the European integration of Western Balkan countries.

The French president added that he also discussed with Vucic the normalization of relations between Serbia and Kosovo and emphasized that France is “deeply committed to this process” and that it is “an essential condition for their European integration.”

“Finally, we talked about strengthening our political, economic, and defense cooperation, following my visit to Belgrade last August. True to our ambition for Europe, I confirmed to President Vucic France’s participation in Expo 2027 in Belgrade,” Macron wrote.
