Serbia’s Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said that hosting the Specialized Expo 2027 event in Belgrade is a new source of the country’s economic growth, which will be maximized to achieve the expected 100 billion euros gross domestic product (GDP) that year.

“With EXPO and clearly defined economic policy goals, we are making the right moves because, judging by all indicators, we are doing well in conditions of incredible instability,” the Finance Ministry quoted Mali as telling Pink TV.

He said that this event, along with Serbia’s “Leap into the Future - Serbia EXPO 2027” plan, will activate 323 projects across Serbia, worth a total of 17.8 billion euros.

Mali also said discussions were under way with the world's largest stadium management company to take over the management of the National Soccer Stadium once it is built. He explained that the new infrastructure will be used to continue hosting major events, adding he expect the 2028 UEFA Europa League final to be played at the new stadium in Belgrade's municipality of Surcin.
