A 50-year-old man with initials S.B. was detained on Thursday in Belgrade over death threats addressed to US Ambassador to Serbia Christopher Hill, chief public prosecutor of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade Nenad Stefanovic confirmed for the Tanjug news agency.
It is believed that the suspect posted the death threats on Facebook.
He is suspected of having committed the criminal offense of endangering persons under international protection, said prosecutor Stefanovic.
The suspect will be questioned by the prosecutor within 48 hours.
