Savo Manojlovic, leader of the "Kreni-promeni" movement, has strongly criticised Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic’s approach to Kosovo, comparing it to a poorly executed renovation project marred by "corruption and incompetence."
„Both Kurti and Vucic represent significant misfortunes for the Serb people in Kosovo. Currently, Serbs in Kosovo live under a European apartheid. Vucic’s Kosovo policy has plunged the Serbs into their worst situation since 2000, dismantling the work of the state over the past 20 years,“ Manojlovic stated.
Highlighting what he described as Vucic’s numerous failures in Kosovo, Manojlovic listed key actions that he believes have undermined the Serbian position:
Surrendering control over the judiciary and police; forcing Serbs to leave institutions; organising and then abandoning blockades without achieving their goals; allowing the establishment of Albanian special unit bases in violation of agreements; facilitating the surrender of municipal buildings by withdrawing Serbian representatives for an SNS rally; orchestrating what he called a fiasco in Banjska, which led to the disbandment of the Civil Protection unit in northern Kosovo.
Manojlovic argued that Serbia should have pursued the demilitarisation of northern Kosovo and insisted on the presence of only international security forces. „By orchestrating incidents like those in Banjska, Vucic provides Kurti with justification to further militarise the area and intensify repression against Serbs,“ he said.
The activist went further, claiming that Serbs are victims of „coordinated and prearranged incidents“ between Vucic and Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti. Drawing a historical parallel, he remarked: „This is reminiscent of the dynamics between Tudjman and Milosevic, and we all know how that ended for the Serbs.“
These comments come in the wake of a recent explosion on the Ibar-Lepenac canal, which damaged infrastructure and heightened tensions in the region. Pristina, led by Kurti, accused Belgrade of orchestrating the attack, specifically pointing fingers at Vucic and Milan Radoicic. Belgrade has categorically denied the allegations, calling them false.
Meanwhile, Kosovo Police increased their presence in northern Mitrovica, with reports of arrests, including Serbian journalist Dusan Milanovic from Leposavic. The Office for Kosovo and Metohija condemned the police actions as unjustified, while the international community condemned the incident, labelling it a terrorist act.
