Many companies lobby in Brussels, it's troubling how Telekom Srbija does it

N1 journalist Petar Gajic stated on Saturday that there is nothing controversial in Vladimir Bilcik's meetings with Telekom Srbija and Adria Media Group representatives, nor in the fact that Telekom Srbija lobbies.

"Many companies are lobbying in Brussels not to be mentioned in a negative context in any EP report or resolution, it’s troubling how Telekom does it, it’s troubling that all this is done with the money of the citizens of Serbia," he said.
According to Gajic, Bilcik comes from ENP, a party that has a partnership relationship with SNS.
"Even in those negotiations that were conducted in the inter-party dialogue in Serbia, he cared about presenting the SNS better than the MEPs who come from, for example, the ranks of socialists and democrats or liberals, that's how I would explain it. I hope that there is no other background to Bilcik's efforts," he said.
He pointed out that his position on the omission of Telekom from the amendment "was certainly unusual."
According to the information he has, Telekom has hired professional lobbyists.
"We are talking about two lobbyists from Croatia. They have good connections in the EP, and through them, Igor Zezelj's Adria Media Group is lobbying, trying to convince some MEPs to give up the amendments, that is, not the amendments themselves but to delete Telekom from the amendments. That key amendment, according to the information I have, in which Telekom is listed as one of the big government’s affairs, together with Jovanjica, Savamal and others, has been changed. We will see if that is really the case on Monday or Tuesday when the consolidated text of that amendment is published," he says.
What we learned in the meantime, Gajic added, is that the discussion about the mention of Telekom in the report does not end there.
"A number of MPs who participated in the work of the EP Foreign Affairs Committee are dissatisfied with the fact that Bilcik insisted that Telekom not be mentioned in a significant number of amendments and that they will propose changing those amendments again in the plenum when the discussion begins", Gajic concluded.
