Masked attackers target Belgrade Sports High School students

“At around 4 pm yesterday, two masked persons twice threw smoke grenades and artillery strike simulator devices at students of the Sports High School. We find it deplorable that we live in a society where it has become normal to commit acts of violence against high-school students, many of whom are minors,” the students wrote in a public statement.

They told N1 that the police were called right away and officers later spoke with the school principal.

The assault has left both students and their parents shaken, and the students expressed hope that “the system will track down these provocateurs and criminals and punish them accordingly.”

The students stressed that the school’s plenary assembly will keep meeting and described the attack as a perfect example of the very thing today’s young people must stand against.

“We have no desire to get involved in politics or support any political party, what we care about is finding a way to make our society react properly to this kind of hatred directed at the future of our nation,” the Sports High School students said.
