More than eighteen years after Serbia's first democratically elected Prime Minister, Zoran Djindjic was assassinated outside his office, the members of his Democratic Party (DS) unveiled a memorial plaque on a building in downtown Belgrade where a philosopher and a politician once lived in Belgrade.

Djindjic was shot down in Government's parking lot on March 12, 2003, less than two years after becoming prime minister. The assassins are behind bars, but the political background and the mastermind of his killing remained unknown.

The DS members recalled Djindjic's political legacy and his importance for Serbia.

Earlier, a plaque with his name in central Belgrade was destroyed several times.
