MEP Fajon: Serbia should condemn glorification of war criminals

Fajon said that she agrees with the statement by her fellow MEPs which blamed Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic for the incidents around the mural of convicted war criminal General Ratko Mladic in central Belgrade. “Every form of protection or glorification of war criminals who have been sentenced for their inhuman acts is absolutely unacceptable and should not be tolerated including the recent events in Serbia which is on the way to becoming an EU member state,” she said.

According to Fajon, Serbia should focus on reconciliation, promoting peace and stability and defending democracy. “That is what the people of Serbia deserve. I am calling the authorities to sharply condemn every attempt at instability and reviews of the terrible and bloody past,” she said.
