Rapporteur Vladimir Bilcik, the EP’s mediator in the inter-party dialogue in Serbia, stated that there was positive progress in the implementation of the agreed measures for improving the election conditions before the April elections in Serbia but that there are also some delays in the process.

However, he said he received assurances that the agreement will be fulfilled.

“We are sorry to see that some political actors have decided not to participate in the implementation of measures,"

At a press conference, Bilcik said the EP regrets the fact that some political actors have decided not to participate in the implementation of measures. Bilcik announced that he would submit a report on the entire process after the elections.

"Serbia has a chance to move forward and I hope that everyone will get involved in this," he said.

Commenting on Bilcik's assessment that positive progress has been made, but that the implementation of measures is delayed, Vucic said that next week all recommendations from the dialogue on improving election conditions will be adopted by the Serbian Parliament.

MEP Tanja Fajon stated that she was satisfied with the outcome of the second phase of talks in Belgrade and that the international community would monitor the upcoming elections, adding that it was another test for Serbia, for a better life for citizens, democracy and media freedom.
