The Serbian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that MEPs in Brussels told Minister Ivica Dacic that Serbia should align its foreign and security policies with those of the European Union.
The press release said that Dacic had a series of meetings with MEPs including Viola von Cramon, Matjaz Nemec and Demetris Papadakis, reiterating Belgrade’s view that EU membership remains the country’s strategic goal.
The Foreign Minister is quoted as saying that Serbia remains fully committed to reforms, progress in all areas and regional cooperation.
The ministry press release claimed that the MEPs said the reform process underway in Serbia is positive as are the steps taken by the government to align its visa policies with those of the EU. Dacic is quoted as saying that Belgrade sees no problem in alignment with EU policies in those parts that do not violate its national interests.
