He said that ending the hunger strike is “the healthiest decision he can make” so his son would follow suit, and announced that he would remain in his tent near the Vojvodina Provincial Government building.

His son, Milan Jacimovic, who was hunger striking alongside his father, was detained by police on Tuesday and then released a few hours later after questioning.

Milomir Jacimovic said he would stay at the location until Friday, and if no one addresses him or meets his demands by then, he will come to Belgrade, join Dijana Hrka, and block the Serbian capital with trucks.

Jacimovic has been providing free transport for students and citizens to protests. Over the past year, his buses have had their tires slashed, he has been detained multiple times, and police have seized his buses and issued him what he claims are millions in fines. He began a hunger strike on November 10, demanding that his buses be returned to him and that the fines he claims were illegally issued be annulled.

Dijana Hrka, the mother of Stefan, one of the 16 victims of the Novi Sad canopy collapse, began a hunger strike near the pro-regime encampment outside the Serbian Parliament in Belgrade on November 2. She announced on Monday, November 17, that she was ending her hunger strike but that she will remain in front of the Serbian Parliament. She is demanding the prosecution of those responsible for the Novi Sad disaster, the release of all detained students, and the calling of snap parliamentary elections.
