There are 95,500 people employed in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector, while in 2016 there were 55,000, Serbian Information and Telecommunications Minister Mihailo Jovanovic told the Job Fair 2022 organized at the Belgrade University School of Electrical Engineering.
“The ICT sector is a generator of new positions on the labor market, practically every other advertised position last year was in the field of ICT. Through the education program reform, at the initiative of Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, starting with first grade of primary school, children in Serbia have a subject called Digital World, and, in fifth grade, they learn the basics of programming,” Jovanovic’s office quoted the Minister as saying.
Jovanovic said the ICT sector is the future of the modern labor sector, which is supported by the fact that the enrollment quota for technical faculties has increased by 20 percent.
