Serbia’s Mining and Energy Minister, Dubravka Djedovic, said the country should start importing electricity from Azerbaijan as of January if all prerequisites are met.

„This will provide additional security for the electric power system of Serbia in the winter months when the largest increase in electricity consumption is expected,“ she told Vecernje Novosti.

Djedovic said that the amount of electricity that Azerbaijan can deliver, which was defined in the previous negotiations, is “50 megawatts in transmission capacity“.

Talks on the remaining issues related to the transfer of energy from Azerbaijan, which should be realized through the territory of Turkey and Bulgaria, are “in progress,“ she said.
