Minister says police react to every threat to journalists

A press release quoted him as telling the head of the Commission to Investigate the Murders of Journalists Veran Matic that the MUP continuously invests efforts to make sure journalists are safe.

Serbian officials use the term MUP to designate all civilian law enforcement, security and intelligence agencies such as the various departments of the police and the Security Information Agency (BIA).

“The meeting pointed out the need to develop rapid response mechanisms in situations when journalists feel they are in danger and to work on prevention and the education of journalists and MUP personnel about issues relating to the safety of journalists,” the press release said.
It quoted Matic as saying that MUP cooperation with the Permanent Working Group for the Security of Journalists which he heads is very good.
