Minister with Giaufret, announces faster reforms in EU integration process

Miscevic informed the EU Ambassador about the plans to speed up reforms in the European integration process in order to achieve benefits for the citizens of Serbia, said the Minister’s office.

“Membership in the EU is our state’s strategic goal,” the press release quoted Minister Miscevic as saying.

We are full aware of our obligations in the European integration process regarding the political, economic and legal criteria and, in partnership with the European Commission and member states, we will invest efforts to meet them as soon as possible, said the Minister.

Miscevic thanked Ambassador Giaufret for the significant grant of 165 million Euro as immediate budget support in the field of energy, announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during her visit to Serbia last week.

Giaufret congratulated Miscevic on her appointment as minister, noting that her role of leader and coordinator for all issues regarding the EU will be key to successful coping with challenges ahead.

The Ambassador said that EU’s close cooperation with Serbian ministries is of essential importance for a faster adoption of reforms, and that the 165 million Euro grant is a tangible sign that the EU stands by Serbia in the process of resolving the energy crisis challenges.

The pace of the accession negotiations with Serbia will continue to depend on reforms, especially in the field of the rule of law, and on the normalization of relations with Pristina, said Giaufret.
