Ministry official: We stepped-up efforts to prevent gatherings during holidays
As of Saturday and until the end of the state holiday, Serbia’s Statehood day, more than 1,500 authorised officials will intensify their work on preventing large gatherings and violations of measures authorities introduced against the coronavirus, said the Health Minister’s assistant for inspection affairs, Goran Stamenkovic.
Stamenkovic told the public broadcaster, RTS, that 13 inspection services from seven ministries are doing all they can and that supervision would be carried out not only in catering businesses but also in retail chains and tourist centres, “wherever there is a possibility of a larger number of people gathering.”
“Inspectors will not have a national holiday, and 1,000 local police officers and members of local government bodies are helping them," Stamenkovic said.
He added that since the adoption of amendments to the regulations which enabled other bodies to perform inspection supervision and impose fines on the spot, more than 275,000 controls have been performed and fines in the amount of 79 million Serbian dinars (More than 670,000 euros) have been issued.
