The man stopped in the middle of the street, faced the protesters who were standing in silence and hurled abuse at them. The man walked on, continuing to shout abuse at the crowd. The incident occurred less than 2 days after thugs assaulted law school students, injuring several of them by throwing bottles at them and shouting abuse.
Law school professors Svetislav Kostic and Vanja Bajovic told the N1 morning show that the assaults on protesting students are the result of statements by state official. They said officials have been “painting targets on the backs of students for 50 days” just because they “dared to have an opinion”.
The student protests which include taking over university schools and the daily 15 Minutes of Silence were started following the November 1 collapse of a concrete awning at the recently-reconstructed Novi Sad Railway Station which claimed 15 lives. The students are demanding accountability for the tragedy.
