Montenegrin Parliament speaker Danijela Djurovic has scheduled a presidential election for March 19, 2023, the Parliament posted on its website.

In line with the Constitution and Law on Election of the President of Montenegro, the Parliament speaker is authorized to call presidential elections no later than 120 days before end of a Montenegrin President’s term of office, reported the daily Vijesti.

„Bearing in mind that no less than 60 days and no more than 90 days can pass from the day of calling the elections to the day of holding the elections for the President of Montenegro, and taking into account that, in April 2023, all three of the most numerous confessions in Montenegro have major religious holidays, it was found that March 19, 2023 is the most appropriate and adequate date for holding the elections,“ said the Parliament press release.
