Montenegrin Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic said that the Western Balkans should look to the future more than to the past.

He told Belgrade pro-government daily Politika that “the recipe for a better future of the Western Balkans is less about the past and more about the future” and added that the Open Balkan initiative could bridge the gap between East and West.

“We send the world a different message when we speak openly about the future of the Western Balkans in a way that is not customary without looking back at issues that cause conflicts,” he said.
Abazovic warned that the European Union “does not want to import problems”. “Our dialogue and inclusive approach can have positive effects for the public and bring foreign policy benefits to all the countries of the Western Balkans,” he said.
