More than 30 centimeters of snow fell in the Zlatibor district of western Serbia, forcing local roads companies to bring out their heavy machinery.

The Putevi Uzice roads company said that its crews managed to keep all major roads open despite the continuing snowfall. The company issued a warning to drivers because of melting snow and expected frost overnight.

Mt Golija in western Serbia was reported to have had almost two meters of snow in a period of 24 hours earlier this week.

The Serbian Hydrometeorological Service warned of snow in southwestern and southeastern parts of the country.
