Moscow has decided to allow Belgrade to repay loans in Rubles, Russian media said on Friday.

“Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin approved the transfer of Serbian payments on Russian loans into rubles,” it said adding that an inter-governmental document would be signed confirming the decision to allow Serbia to repay loans in the Russian currency.

„All the payments under the agreements will be made by the Serbian party in favor of the Russian party in rubles,“, the government decree said.

The TASS news agency quoted a government decree which said the decision was taken to develop and strengthen friendly relations between the countries. According to TASS, the decision stems from a draft protocol on two loans in 2013, a third in 2019, and an agreement on debt repayments in 2021.
