The Russian Embassy in Skoplje denied claims of Moscow’s involvement in North Macedonia’s internal affairs.

The accusations were made by North Macedonia President Stevo Pendarovski in comments to the media in Skoplje and Greece. Pendarovski said that Moscow is producing the most serious hybrid threats in the Balkans and added that he has information that Russia is using the protests in the North Macedonia capital for its own purposes.

“We reject the accusations made against our country. Russia has not interfered and is not interfering and has no intention of interfering in the internal affairs of any country, including North Macedonia. That runs counter to the very philosophy of Russian foreign policy,” an embassy statement said.
“We respect every choice by the Macedonian people and are prepared to continue building our cooperation on the basis of mutual respect and equality,” the statement said.
