Workers at the Public Utility Company Obnova in the Medvedja municipality located in the Jablanica District of southern Serbia have not been paid since February, prompting them to hold a protest on Tuesday.

N1’s reporter said the company director passed by the strikers on Tuesday morning, claiming this problem has been going on for years.

What multiple companies and thousands of employees handle in other places, just 59 workers do in Medvedja. The Public Utility Company Obnova is responsible for water supply, sewage, markets, cemeteries, and local roads. They say new tasks and responsibilities are constantly being added, but there are no salaries.

They managed to secure that February salary through a protest they organized last week in front of the municipal building.

They declared a warning strike on Friday over unpaid wages, unpaid contributions, and travel expenses.
