N1 reported extensively on the Vietnamese and other Asian workers who were brought in to build the plant and were housed in barely livable conditions. Those workers told N1 that there were problems with their payments. An N1 crew also recorded an incident when one of the plant staff blocked their car, preventing them from leaving after interviewing construction site workers. An N1 crew also had problems when it tried to record a report in front of the plant gates.
The N1 crew at the ceremony marking the start of serial production was one of a large number of media crews reporting in controlled conditions.
An N1 reporter said on Friday that the crew was told that they would not be able to tour the plant because the organizers didn’t have enough vehicles. Organizers said that they chose the pro-regime Tanjug agency to cover the opening but the N1 reporter said that crews from the pro-regime Pink and Informer were also allowed access to the entire plant.
