N1, Nova finally reach Serbian Parliament

The opposition MPs won a small victory by getting the SBB cable provider’s equipment installed since access to parliament was allowed only to the state-owned MTS which does not have N1 and Nova S on offer for its viewers. The rivalry between SBB and MTS has been ongoing for several years with the state-owned cable provider obstructing United Group’s SBB in a number of towns and cities across the country.

Milivojevic said he was told that the technical conditions to allow SBB into parliament were not in place because parliament subscribed to MTS. “MPs have the right to choose where they get their information from. The public service in this country has been turned into a party service for the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) primarily, I have the legitimate right to get information from where I believe reporting is unbiased and professional and at this time that means N1 and Nova,” he said.
