Nova Ekonomija magazine said on Thursday that Foreign Direct Investments in Serbia dropped greatly in 2025.

It quoted National Bank of Serbia (NBS) documents which showed that net FDI investments in the first 8 months of the year totaled 1.49 billion Euro or 54 percent less than in the same period of 2024. It added that overall FDI in 2025 totaled 2.3 billion Euro including foreign investments by investors resident in Serbia.
According to Nova Ekonomija, portfolio investments totaled 709 million Euro, much higher than the previous year’s 192 million.
The drop in FDI has been blamed by top Serbian state officials on the student protests. The NBS said in August that above average once-off revenues and the drop in investor confidence at global level contributed to the drop in FDI.
