New ambassadors of Germany, Austria, Belgium, Kuwait present credentials

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic received Monday the credentials of the newly-appointed ambassadors of Germany, Austria, Belgium and Kuwait to Belgrade.

Germany’s new Ambassador to Serbia Anke Konrad said that Germans strongly supports Serbia’s European path and the policy of regional stability.

Noting that Serbia is Germany’s important partner, Konrad said her country expects Serbia to impose sanctions on Russia, said a press release issued from the Serbian President’s office.

President Vucic said that Germany is Serbia’s leading economic partner, which it why its key interest is an increase in German investments, said the press release, adding that Vucic and Conrad discussed the development of bilateral relations and additional intensification of economic cooperation.

Serbia and Belgium will continue to cooperate in order to facilitate the further advancement of the two countries’ relations, said Vucic after he received the credentials of the newly-appointed Belgian Ambassador to Belgrade, Cathy Buggenhout.

The Serbian President said there is potential to further develop bilateral relations, especially in the field of economy, and that he was satisfied with the Belgian companies’ presence in the Serbian market. He called on this country’ businessmen to invest in the sector of organic production in Serbia, said the press release.

Vucic stressed that Serbia is determined to continue the necessary reforms and that it feels very strongly about honoring the principle of every country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, as one of the basic principles of international law contained in the UN Charter, said the press release.

President Vucic received the credentials of new Kuwaiti Ambassador to Serbia Fayez Mujbel Suleiman Al-Mutairi who noted that Serbia and Kuwait have a long-standing tradition of friendly relations and that he was looking forward to the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries that will be celebrated next year.

Vucic expressed interest in continuing to advance cooperation and intensify the political dialogue, adding that this would additionally contribute to the development of economic relations, said the press release from the President’s office.

President Vucic also received new Austrian Ambassador to Serbia Christian Ebner’s letter of credence and said he hopes the constructive and successful comprehensive cooperation and the strengthening of close and friendly relations between the two countries would continue during his term in office.

Ambassador Ebner said Austria provides clear support for Serbia’s European integration and policy of regional stability that Serbia consistently advocates, said the press release. He said he would continue to work on enhancing cooperation, especially in the field of economy, having in mind that Austria is Serbia’s third largest foreign investor and fifth largest foreign trade partner.

Vucic said economic cooperation between Serbia and Austria is very developed but that he expects it to further grow in the coming period.

Vucic and Ebner also discussed the current energy situation that European countries are faced with due to the complicated global political situation, said the press release.
