The new Serbian government was sworn in on Wednesday after being approved by parliament.

The ceremony came after two days of heated debate between ruling coalition and opposition MPs which included the defection of MP Miloljub Albijanic from the ruling coalition after he lent support to protesting students a day earlier.

Several hundred people gathered outside parliament to boo and whistle at the new ministers.

Prime Minister Djuro Macut swore an oath in front of MPs and President Aleksandar Vucic who walked into parliament after greeting his supporters who have been living in tents on the street and in the park in front of the presidency building across the street from parliament.

The new government won the support of 153 of the total of 250 MPs with 46 voting against Macut’s cabinet and 51 MPs not being in the hall.
