The Knowledge is Power gathering was organized by Belgrade University students who marched with their supporters from the university law school to the Rectorate on Student Square where a number of speakers, including Belgrade University chief Rector Vladan Djokic, addressed the crowd before they marched to the St Sava temple but were denied entry into the Serbian capital’s biggest church.

The Archive of Public Gatherings said that, by its count, there were 14,000 people gathered around the Rectorate in the square and surrounding streets and park at 7:00 pm on Tuesday.

Recent student gatherings included a presentation of their ideas on regulating education.

The next student protest is scheduled for February 15 when Orthodox believers celebrate Candlemas based on the Julian calendar, but the student organizers have not specified the venue.
