NGO says jailed war criminal lectured school kids

The Youth Initiative for Human Rights (YIHR) in Serbia called the authorities to investigate a school principal who allowed a war criminal to speak at an open class for its students.
YIHR quoted media reports which said that convicted war criminal General Nebojsa Pavkovic addressed students via video link from his jail cell in Finland, telling them about the battle for the Kosare border outpost during the Kosovo war. The public class was held on April 20 at the Djura Jaksic elementary school in the town of Kac outside Novi Sad, YIHR said.
The organization called the Ministry of Education to hold the school principal who allowed Pavkovic to speak accountable. It also called Novi Sad city council to impeach Mayor Milan Djuric who also spoke at the event.
Pavkovic commanded Yugoslav Army forces in Kosovo during the war. He was sentenced to 22 years in prison for war crimes and is in jail in Finland.
