Nis Higher Court: 24 of 27 complaints against GIK decisions upheld

The Higher Court in the city of Nis has ruled in all 27 cases formed based on complaints filed by four opposition parties against the City Election Commission (GIK) decisions following the June 2 local elections in Serbia, the Serbian state TV (RTS) reported on Monday.

It said that, in 24 cases, the complaints were upheld, resulting in the annulment of the GIK decisions, while the complaints were rejected in two cases.

In one case, the complaint was upheld, the GIK decision was annulled, and the complainant's argument was rejected, added the Court, the RTS reported.

Following the June 2 local elections, four opposition tickets filed 36 complaints, out of which the GIK partially upheld six, while others were rejected or dismissed. As a result, appeals were submitted to the Higher Court in Nis.

The Nis City Election Commission has ten days to pass new decisions in the cases of the 24 complaints upheld by the Higher Court.
