Independent Unions Council secretary Zoran Mihajlovic said that the unions, employers and government officials have not made any progress in the talks on the minimum wage because the finance ministry offer remains the same.

Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali told the board of the Socio-Economic Council that the government wants the minimum monthly salary to stand at 35,012 Dinars in 2022 up from 30,900 this year along with an increase of the pre-tax earnings from 18,300 to 19,300 Dinars and a reduction in pension and health care dues of 0.5 percent.
Employers want the pre-tax earnings to be raised to 26,000 Dinars.

President Aleksandar Vucic said before the talks began that the minimum wage would be raised to 35,000 Dinars and the pre-tax earnings level raised.
The Council will discuss the issue at a meeting on September 2 and the government will decide on the minimum wage by September 15 if no progress is made.
