Elementary school children returned to school in the north of Kosovo on Monday while Kosovo Serbs continued manning their barricades for a 10th day.
The barricades are still up in the municipalities of Zvecan, Zubin Potok and Leposavic with protesters demanding the release of Kosovo Serbs arrested over the past two weeks and the withdrawal of Kosovo police special forces. The Jarinje and Brnjak border crossings are still closed and under the control of the police.
Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic told the pro-regime TV Pink that the barricades raised by the Kosovo Serbs are a legitimate form of political struggle, adding that the important thing is that there have been no incidents.
KFOR said it had increased its presence at the Jarinje crossing following Sunday’s gathering by right-wing activists and supporters.
