Serbia’s protesting students have announced a “media war” against the Informer pro-regime tabloid and cable TV following its attacks on a fellow student, the Nova.rs portal said on Friday. Pročitaj više

It said that a social media post revealed the location of the Informer headquarters.

Nova recalled that Informer is not the only media outlet that has taken a clear negative stand toward the students and their goals: Vecernje Novosti daily, Pink TV and Kurir tabloid are now the regime’s main media weapons against the protests which started to demand accountability for the Novi Sad Railway Station disaster which claimed 16 lives.

“The „war“ between the students and Informer began a few evenings ago when a journalist from Novi Pazar was given TV air time to share private information (including health-related) about the family of Novi Pazar state university student Davud Delimedjac.

Informer has subjected a large number of Serbians to similar media terror attacks but this triggered a response from students who issued their own declaration of a „media war.“ Informer has shown no signs of backing away from its strategy to contaminate the media landscape, as demonstrated by the series of articles it published, including a particularly colorful headline: “The End of an Episode of Violence by the Arrogant and Rich! The Blockade of the GSP Depot in New Belgrade Has Been Lifted,” Nova.rs said.

Vecernje Novosti: People Are Starving!

The Vecernje Novosti editorial team stands shoulder to shoulder with Informer with their own stories online: “The Blockaders Are Planning an Attack on EXPO. Everything Has Been Worked Out in Detail, from Food to Camping: There Will Be Fewer and Fewer People in the Streets, Radicalization, The Terrifying Plan of the Blockaders: They Plan to Block Bakeries So People Have No Bread to Eat”. That regime daily lent its support to Informer.

“Vecernje Novosti had a particularly shameful episode at the start of the mass protests when it published the personal documents of one of the students while alluding to his ethnic background,” Nova said.

Pink: Sound Cannon Mockery

Pink TV is, according to Nova, the leading TV instrument of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) featured lengthy analytical and news programs, from morning shows to special broadcasts and news segments, as the primary propaganda platform. Pink owner Zeljko Mitrovic makes his own contributions in the form of commentaries in support of the regime, including the recent demeaning of public claims that a sonic weapon was used at the March 15 protests.

„We’ve seen a lot of things these days! Dear Djiki (opposition leader Dragan Djilas) pigged out on beans and releases a fart which is so strong that the crowd of people flees screaming sound cannon, sound cannon,” Mitrovic said in the commentary.
The Pink TV building was fortified with paneling prior to the March 15 protest.

Kurir: A Barrage of Propaganda

Kurir, as the largest portal of the Wireless Media company, leads in deploying a barrage of online propaganda with the clear aim of creating widespread dissatisfaction with the student protests. It even published 9 stories in the space of just a few hours allowing public officials to voice disagreement with the protests, predict their collapse, or issue appeals from „concerned citizens“ to end the protests.

An example is an unsigned story titled: “The Latest Analysis from Security Services and a Completely New Video! This Breaks the Myth of the Sound Cannon—Take a Good Look at What the Security Guards Are Doing”. The story insinuated that students staged an attack and caused panic at the mass protest which was denied by a number of students.
