Nova S Television submitted today the required documents for taking part in the tender awarding a national broadcasting license in Serbia, filed with the government's Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM).
We are convinced that the channel fully meets all the prescribed conditions for obtaining the license. Furthermore, we believe that the programming we proposed demonstrates our capability to offer top quality, attractive, and diverse content at the national level, geared towards the entire audience in Serbia.
As a cable television channel, Nova S has earned considerable trust of viewers over the past three years due to the quality content it offers, which is confirmed by our ratings. They also point to the fact that, in spite of our limited availability, we are far ahead of some other channels which currently have a national broadcasting frequency.
Our track record proves that public interest is a priority for us, and that we also strive to provide an adequate balance of different types of programming, in order to inform, educate, and entertain our audiences. Our content deserves the attention of viewers at the national level, which is especially true for news shows which managed to develop a cult following, such as the "Impression of the Week" by Olja Bećković, "Evenings with Ivan Ivanović" or "24 Minutes" with Zoran Kesić. Thanks to its credibility and professionalism, our news programming has already established itself as an indispensable source of information, and we intend to continue focusing on providing timely, reliable, and unbiased information for our viewers.
In addition, by broadcasting coverage of a number of large sports competitions over the past few years – including the UEFA Nations League, the UEFA Euro 2020, and the qualifiers for the FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar – we have provided ample proof that we have the production capacity and capabilities to broadcast events of national importance.
Originally produced shows made by NOVA S are hosted edited by some of the most recognizable TV personalities in Serbia: Maja Nikolić, Jelena Obućina, Slobodan Georgiev, Goran Dimitrijević, Nevena Madžarević, Danilo Mašojević, Ana Mihajlovski, Vesna Dedić, Marko Stepanović and Srdjan Jovanović, along with a team of top journalists and reporters.
Our viewers were also able to watch the popular entertainment-competition show Survivor exclusively on NOVA S, whose second season is currently being prepared. In the future, our viewers can expect more exciting surprises, including globally renowned cooking shows and competition formats.
We recognized the importance of investing in the development and production of original drama series, so audiences of NOVA S could watch the premiere of the second season of Balkan Shadows (Senke nad Balkanom), My Father's Killers (Ubice mog oca), Branded in the Racket (Žigosani u reketu) and Alexander of Yugoslavia. Other popular series include Time of Evil (Vreme zla), Awake (Kljun), Weekend with Dad (Vikend sa ćaletom), Holidays in the Sun (Atomski zdesna), Embraced by the Black Hand (U zagrljaju crne ruke) and Soldiers' Lullaby (Zaspanka za vojnike).
In case we are awarded the national broadcasting license Nova S plans to significantly increase commitment in developing new programming, including multi-million investments in its own original productions and licensed programming - not only in terms of entertainment, news, and drama broadcasts, but will also invest in offering shows about science and education, culture and arts, documentary programming, and children's programming - that audiences deserve.
We believe that Nova S programming offers viewers additional value that has not been made available to everyone yet, and that its future production and selection of content would significantly improve the current television landscape to the benefit of audiences throughout Serbia. This is especially true given the considerable international experience of the Group, which operates nationally licensed channels in other countries in the region, and which are regularly among the best watched channels in their respective countries.
