Novi Sad Mayor Milos Vucevic said on Thursday that there were multiple attempts to sabotage the city’s water supply over the past few days.

Vucevic, a senior official of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), said that the city’s water supply system was on the brink of breaking because of the heat wave when the attempts to sabotage it happened. “Someone tried to cut the power cables to a pumping station several times. The Security Information Agency (BIA) and the police have been informed,” he said.

The mayor said that two hacker attacks on the city water supply company were prevented.

Sources at the water supply company told the 021.rs portal unidentified perpetrators attacked pumping stations which are part of the sewer system. They also confirmed the hacker attacks.
